Black Friday the Online Way: How to Avoid the Doorbuster Hustle

Lines stretching for city blocks, bony elbows pressing you into racks of clearance shelves, and squeezing
your post-Thanksgiving body into new clothes — this is the dreaded Black Friday. Or at least it is in-person. But why struggle through this early-morning hell when you can get the same deals from the comfort of your bed, snug in your jammies, tapping away at your tablet? The Black Friday battle-path is no longer a necessity. Find out how to get the best deals online.

1.Do your Homework.

Before you start wandering the web Friday morning, find out what you want and who’s having the best deals. Most sites will start advertising their Black Friday deals weeks in advance. Decide what you want and who’s offering the best deals. Amazon and Best Buy already have their deals advertised. Fashion sites usually wait till week of.

 2. Get on the List.

Nobody likes spam, but any veteran online shopper will tell you that the email lists deals are nothing to scoff at. And who doesn’t want a coupon code on top of a Black Friday deal? No one, that’s who. Sign up for the email lists of your favorite sites Thanksgiving week.

TIP: Create a separate shopping email account so your regular account doesn’t drown in spam.

 3. Make a Budget.

Don’t fall into the doorbuster trap — overspending until you dry up your bank account. Make a budget and stick to it. If you’re buying holiday presents, budget per person. If you go under budget, treat yourself!

4. Start Early.

Online Black Friday deals often start at midnight. So instead of turning in early so you can make it to store opening, stay up a little later.

3 Fantastic Ways to Knot a Scarf

It’s getting chilly outside and you can feel the frost nipping at your neck. Bundle up with a fashion rock – the scarf. Here’s 9 fresh ways to tie a scarf.
Looking for a great scarf? Check out some stunning Indian designs here.

1.       Twisty Scarf Loop

You’ll need a longer scarf for this one, the short silk square won’t do. A pashmina works great.
Start off by twisting the scarf until most of it is all wrung up. Then, simply wrap the scarf around your neck twice, pinching the twists so they don’t unravel. Tie at knot with the two ends and you’re done!

Thanks to scarves.net for this knot!

2.       DIY Circle Scarf

Circle scarves are oh so trendy and this trick is oh so easy. All you need – 1 scarf, 3 safety pins. Just pin the ends of the scarf together so the edges meet in a straight line. Throw it over your neck and loop. Perfecto!

Thanks to scarves.net for the trick!

3.       The French Knot

Super classy, super sexy. Fold the scarf in half and drape it around your shoulders. Take one end loose end and pull it over and through the scarf loop. Take the other end piece and go under and through the same loop. Presto!
Thanks to henryhappened.com for this Parisian knot!

Fall Fashion: Golden trees, golden accessories

Fall fashion means a dulling down of the color pattern, from bright to rich. And what goes better with rich color but shining gold? Gold is the perfect accessory for the warm, rich colors of autumn – your greens, browns, purples and greys. And what says understated elegance more than a golden bracelet?
Our top autumn accessory picks are here: The Charlene K collection and Leighelena’s charming bracelets.

Charlene K: Natural Stones
This collection pairs gold and natural stones. The braceletsand necklaces are textured, with fat, unpolished pieces of stones – crystal quartzes, emerald agates, and purple druzy stones. These pieces will really add to any outfit and you’ll be sure to get comments. Each piece is original and let me just say – that purple druzy stone, it’s like staring into the milky way those rose-colored glasses.

Leighelena: Leather & Gold

These bracelets are exotic. And not exotic like salad at McDonalds, either. Artist and creator Leigh Elena Navarros’s pieces are made of dangerous animal skins: stingray, anaconda, python, lizard, carp and crocodile. They really have some bite! Her trademark design is a thick cuff with a chunky golden lock. This simple design is perfect – it lets the materials talk for themselves. These too, are pieces that will get you noticed.

Celebrities in Pan Am Bag

If you were Jackie Onassis and it was 1968 (you’re not? It isn’t?) and you were preparing for a transatlantic
flight for a long weekend in Paris, what carry-on bag would you choose? That’s easy – your Pam Am.
Pan Am Airlines was world-renowned for its luxurious service and picture-perfect stewardesses. Leather bucket seats, spacious smoking lounges, and delicious in-flight meals were all for the customer and the customer was select. And the Pan Am bag? It was given only to its passengers and later, only those who knew to ask. This bag became a symbol, an icon of style and class. Today, the icon continues, courting the current wave of retro-chic that’s flooding the airwaves and couture racks.

The blue leather (or pleather for the earth-conscious among us) bags are stamped with the Pan Am emblem in popping white with complimenting white piping. In the doctor’s house-call bag style, they’re great for travel (plenty of room) or a lunching. The signature emblem also grazes a variety of other accessories: a round wash bag, a vintage-style shoulder bag, canvas wallets and totes, messenger bags and weekend trollies.

The influx of Pan Am stamped gear came with 2011’s ABC’s drama titled by the same name. The show, though cancelled after just one season, was praised for its fashion know-how. Do you remember it? Christina Ricci in a go-go dress? Kelli Garner’s perfectly rolled curls? Oh! And all the gloved fingers. The Pan Am girls screamed class – in some episodes, the shoes, bags and gloves even matched. Get the bag – it’s the best try to emulate this vintage perfection.

Video Music Awards 2013: Worst Dressed

While Miley Cyrus’s nude-bikini clad butt grazed foam fingers, thrusted at audience members and twerked
Robin Thicke, it was Lady Gaga’s bare bottom that really got my attention. This year’s VMA’s certainly had their fill of bad outfits, but it was the lack of dress that caused the biggest buzz.

Miley’s performance, which is still grabbing views on social media threads and headlines on gossip blogs more than a week later, started innocent enough (at least for the seen-it-all VMA audience). She stepped onto the stage out of a giant teddy bear (who either ate her or birthed her?) wearing a fuzzy, teddy bear printed leotard. Her tongue kept popping out, giving her a reptilian-like quality.  After a few kicks, in the air and crotch grabs, she stripped to a nude bikini and began her favoritest of dance moves – twerking – all while make lewd suggestions with a giant foam finger. By the time she had bent over in front of Robin Thicke, we’d forgotten the sexy apparel. The bikini turned from skimpy to downright trashy.

Miley’s crass performance was a large enough shame-cloud to even overshadow Gaga’s giant spotlight. The Lady took the stage in a head-to-toe white, with a sharply edged square nun-habit. That was weird, but after donning a dress of bacon, Gaga can do little to surprise. This was quickly removed as men in skin tight black suits danced around her. Flashback to Madonna with a blue sequined, shoulder-padded jacket and a white retro wig. Then for the fourth fashion changes in two minutes – a blonde wig and back in the black, sparkling unitard.

Finally Gaga goes natural as the song nears climax. She’s hidden from view for the fifth time and emerges with her own hair, in a sea-shell bikini, the bottom is a thong. Her bare butt cheeks twirl in front of the audience and the Will Smith family stares shocked.

Best Back to School Bags

With September and school right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking practical. For the new
semester, you’ll need a bag that will suit your textbook-toting needs but still align with your style. JanSports are for kids, a trendy tote bag is best for a young, styled look that will fit all the syllabi, binders and books you’ll be sure to carry. Here are two bags to fit two unique styles.
The Earth Girl: Feed Bag
FEED began in 2006 as model Lauren Bush’s project to incorporate her desire for good fashion with activism. Part of the purchase price for each bag is donated to a human rights project that helps feed the hungry throughout the world.

The basic line bags are simple — usually made of canvas, cotton, burlap or nylon — sturdy, and in the traditional tote style. The colors are perfect for the fall palette: khaki, grey, black and brown with accents of army green. Their simplicity makes them easy to pair with most outfits.
FEED has also put out country-specific lines that match the ethnic styles of India and Africa. Same simplicity in design, but with richer patterns on cloth traditionally made in-country.

The Fashionista: Big Buddha Bag

The Big Buddha bags offer a variety of trendy designs that are practical-perfect with plenty of pockets, zippers and adjustable straps. The bags are hobo style and most display detailed designs of handiwork like the Leora Studded Bag. The soft, brown vegan leather is textured with a chevron border around the edges of the bag, accented by faded gold studs.

Their autumn collection stays true to the muted palette of the changing of the seasons — orange, brown and black — but some accessories offer a bright surprise. The Union Snake Tote Bag appears to be made from a snake covered in gold leaf.

Hipanema Bracelet

You know August will be jam packed with pool parties, beach vacations and lots of fun in the sun as  Hipanema bracelet is this summer’s beach attire wonder accessory.
everyone tries to squeeze out the last bits of summer. Looking for the perfect trinket to keep the heat up? The

The bracelets were designed by two Parisian girls who met while vacationing in Brazil. Inspired by the bright colors of Carnival, they create a bracelet that combined the vibrance and exuberance of Rio with the elegance and grace of Parisian couture.

The bracelets are a thick gathering of the traditional woven beach bracelets found on the shores of many Latin countries, but the Hipanema bracelet doesn’t unravel with wear. Instead of a loose knot holding the band on your wrist, the bracelets are held together by a simple magnetic metal clasp in gold or silver.
“I love wearing lots of Brazilian bracelets but having to tie and untie them one by one till they break became a bore,” said creator Delphine.

“After a couple of years it becomes difficult to keep wearing the old discolored ties and it's not easy to match them with one’s wardrobe,” replied creator Jenny.
And that’s how the Hipanema bracelets were born.
The bracelets are ethnic-inspired and their combination or brightly colored threads, shells , beads and stones compliments the theme of summer. Their fun and flirty look reminds of vacation. The cuffs can be worn double or triple and look excellent as an accessory to a brightly colored swimsuit or, for a pop, against black.

Hipanema now sells swimsuits and bags with tribal inspiration from the American Indians the Navajo and the Malian tribe the Bamako among others.

Kate Middleton and Princess Diana share more than the same polka-dot dress

Walking out the hospital doors with the new prince in town, Kate Middleton’s usual perfectly styled look was complimented by a tribute. The blue polka dot dress is reminiscent of the dress donned by Princess Diana as she gave the waiting world the first peak of her royal prince, the baby’s father, Prince William. The Duchess of Cambridge is a complete case of class, so putting such heartwarming sentiment into the dress of this all-important moment is no surprise.

The dress was a custom made Jenny Packham, an obviously deliberate choice for the royal mommy who usually wears off-the-rack. The dress was fun and flirty, cut slightly above the knee with a crew neck and cap sleeves. The Duke was wearing a light blue dress shirt that delicately complimented Kate, in whose arms was Prince George Alexander Louis, wrapped in a cotton muslin swaddle from aden+anais.

Princess Diana’s 1982 dress was polka-dot as well, but green rather than Kate’s robin’s egg blue. Polka-dots are the perfect new-mommy print; hey’re youthful and fun but the repetitive simplicity of the design is also soothing and can be worn by the most mature of ladies. Polka-dots are unintimidating and that’s another component of Kate’s style philosophy: She’s one of the people. Prince Di was lauded for the same reason.

Besides their philosophy in dress, the late Princess and the Duchess are rumored to share a mothering philosophy.  Kate will want some normalcy in the new baby’s life, just as Diana strived to give her sons. Things like taking them to the movies and the shop without all the pomp and pretense of a royal affair will be a part of their life.
